Gita suggests pure sa:tvic food needs to be chewed carefully and eaten in modest portions.
Do not overeat sa:tvic foods as they become ta:msic and if you do overeat, it can lead to diseases in the body. Also, do not overcook or over-spice sa:tvic foods as they then turn into ra:jsic foods and lead to bodily restlessness. Cook after you take bath so you can offer it to the lord. Say ,”Ahaṁ vaiśhvānaro bhūtvā prāṇināṁ deham āśhritaḥ prāṇāpāna-samāyuktaḥ pachāmy annaṁ chatur-vidham”, which means It is I (god) who take the form of the fire of digestion in the stomachs of all living beings, and combine with the incoming and outgoing breaths, to digest and assimilate the four kinds of foods, and thank god for the food, and think that god is eating the food while you eat.
